Sept 3 Missing your people

In “Missing Your People,” Tracy Brower explains the importance of belonging. Describe a time when you felt like you truly belonged. What created that feeling?

Response

I really felt like I belonged when I joined my school’s robotics team. Even though I didn't know much at first, nobody made me feel stupid for asking questions. What created that feeling was the way everyone cheered for each other’s small wins and actually listened to my ideas during brainstorming sessions. It wasn't just about building a robot; it was about feeling like I was a necessary part of the team.

 Summary

Tracy Brower’s "Missing Your People" explains that belonging is all about feeling seen and valued. It’s not just about being in a room with people, but feeling like you have a real place there and that your contributions actually matter to the group.

 Reflection

Looking back, I realize that belonging is something you have to build. It’s not just about finding the "right" group, but about being the kind of person who makes others feel welcome, too. When you feel like you’re truly part of something, you’re way more motivated to show up and do your best.
